The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre was proud to host the European Association of Epilepsy Centres Meeting 2016 from Wednesday 20 to Friday 22 January.

The annual meeting of epilepsy professionals takes place in a different host country each year, providing an opportunity for member organisations to evaluate changes in the sector, present best practice case studies, network and view facilities, resources and procedures in the host centre.

Twenty delegates from specialist epilepsy centres throughout Europe made the trip to Glasgow and participated in two days of discussions and presentations in The William Quarrier Conference Centre. They were also treated to a tour of the epilepsy centre itself; Scotland’s only residential treatment centre for adults with epilepsy.

Head of Epilepsy Services Gerard Gahagan said “We were delighted to host this important meeting within the epilepsy community. The event itself was a great success and solidified The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre’s position as a reliable, professional and expert partner member of the association. It also provided our European colleagues with an excellent opportunity to evaluate emerging issues within our specialist field whilst discussing new treatments, techniques and plans for the future – establishing new contacts and working relationships within the sector.”

During their stay in Glasgow delegates were also treated to some fine Scottish hospitality with a tour of Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and a Burns-themed dinner.
