The William Quarrier Scottish Epilepsy Centre has a telemedicine facility supported by the Scottish Centre for Telehealth, enabling doctors and patients from remote areas to access the neurology and specialist nursing service. Dr Saif Razvi, consultant neurologist at the centre has particular expertise in aiding the development of telemedicine facilities for several NHS health boards in Scotland along with the Scottish Centre for Telehealth, Aberdeen.
The Telemedicine facility allows the assessment and treatment of patients with epilepsy in locations across Scotland including the islands to the west and north of Scotland , avoiding the need to travel long distances for outpatient consultations, minimising disruption to peoples' lives.
